The Pointe-Noire Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is the result of a public-private partnership established in June 2022 between Congo and Arise IIP, a company with operations in Gabon, Benin, and Togo. Arise IIP, which specializes in the design, financing, and development of industrial platforms, is also responsible for the development of the Ouesso SEZ.

President Denis Sassou Nguesso inaugurated the works in Loango in the Kouilou department in November 2022, to make the diversification of the Congolese economy effective.

With an area of 27,000 hectares, this SEZ will be developed by the Arise Congo group. On this space, comprised of two zones, commercial, industrial, and residential buildings will be constructed, including infrastructure and connectivity networks.

The Codimex Group, through its subsidiary MBTP, a leader in the construction sector in the Republic of Congo and Africa, has been selected to carry out the development work for the Pointe-Noire Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The work, which has already begun, is being conducted by a multidisciplinary team of 300 people.

This ambitious project aims to attract foreign direct investment estimated at one billion dollars, of which 150 million will be devoted to the development of the industrial ecosystem.

The activities included are refined petroleum products; metals and engineering; chemicals; the food and beverage industry; non-metallic mineral products; wood and wood products; paper and paper products; and the production of plastic and glass products.

This zone will generate 24,000 jobs in its first phase, including 8,000 direct and 16,000 indirect jobs. These jobs will be governed by the Congolese labor code, which will therefore give priority to local workers.
